Warnings: for some squicky bodily fluids at the beginning, but it's quick
Summary: The events immediately after Bertie's death and rebirth.
Disclaimer: Neither boy is mine, obviously, not even as vampires.
A/N: This has actually been finished for a couple of days. I just kept forgetting to post it. *faceplam* It's unbeta'd, so all mistakes are mine.
"Jeeves, I think I've been sick," were Bertram's first words upon his rebirth.
"No, you haven't. You shall never be sick again. Come, I shall draw you a bath." I pulled the sheets from his shivering body and had to turn my face away from the smell.
Bertram lay in a puddle of the wastes from his body. Urine, excrement, and vomit soaked the bed. "I'm sorry," he gasped. "I'm sorry, Jeeves. I soiled the bed. I must be very sick. Call a doctor!" His shaking intensified and his naked body curled into the feotal position.
With my newfound strength, I picked him up and cradled him in my arms like a babe. As I carried him to the bath, I shushed his protests and said, "You have no need of a doctor. No medical science on earth can help you now."
"Am I dying, then, Jeeves?" His unnaturally bright blue eyes gazed up at me in horror.
"In a way, yes," I told him. It would do no good to lie to him now. Soon, he'd be able to read the truth from my mind, anyway. "However, in another way, you have never been more alive. You will never have cause to fear illness or death again. We might live forever, the two of us. I do not know what now could kill us, save fire, decapitation, or sunlight." I settled Bertram onto the toilet and turned the bath's taps to run as hot as possible. While the tub filled, I cleaned the worst from his body with a flannel.
After a moment's contemplative silence, he said, "Sunlight, Jeeves? What do you mean by sunlight?"
"Just as I said." There was an awkward pause where I would previously have added 'sir'. The honorific was no longer necessary, and I could see the realization of that and a myriad of other horrible things in Bertram's eyes.
His hands rose to cover his mouth and his brilliant blue eyes went wide. "No, no," he said, his words muffled by his palms. "That's impossible!"
I ran my own cool hands up and down his thighs, attempting to soothe him. "Bertie." He started at my use of his nickname. I continued, "Do not be afraid. Do not--"
"You bit me!" he suddenly cried, his fingers flying to the still-healing wound in his neck. I could feel his panic rising, taste it like sour metal in my mouth. His fingertips found the spot on his throat where he'd normally feel the pounding of his heart. Now, of course, they felt nothing but smooth, cold skin. "Oh, God!" he cried and tried to scramble back from my touch.
Quickly, I sat astride his lap and grabbed his wrists. I pinned them to my naked chest and was thankful that he hadn't yet realized he could now match me in strength. "Be calm. Bertram, be still." I caught his gaze and projected feelings of safety and serenity into his mind. It was not as easy as projecting onto a human mind, but Bertram soon went limp under me. His head fell forward onto my breast and he began to sob quietly. "I love you," I said fiercely. "Do not despair. We will be together, and I will care for you."
"It's impossible," Bertram mumbled again. "Just not possible." I said nothing, for nothing I said would be more convincing than the living proof of our bodies. Bertram sniffled, then paused. Slowly, he turned his head until his ear lay over my heart. After a few seconds, he whispered, "Your heart isn't beating."
"Neither is yours. They won't until...." I trailed off, not wanting to force him to face the more gruesome aspects of our reality just yet.
"Never mind. We will come to that soon enough. For now, just breathe and get into the bath. I believe it is ready now." As I rose from his lap, my genitals were briefly in front of his face. Bertram gasped and looked away. I believe he would have blushed, had he the blood to do so. He radiated embarrassment and, I was pleased to perceive, the beginnings of arousal.
He settled into the tub with more grace than his lithe body usually possessed. "This water is scalding," he observed as he raised his wet hands before his face. The skin was vaguely pink and steam rose from his fingers. "But it's not burning me. I should have blisters by now, but there's not a mark on me." I picked up a fresh flannel and a bar of soap and began to wash his back. He continued to speak, working toward accepting his new existence. "I'm sitting in a tub of hot water like a potato set to boil, yet I'm completely boomps-a-daisy. You were gone for a week, then came home looking as white as if some beazel had just threatened to marry you. We...." He glanced at me shyly, then looked back to his hands. "We made love, and you bit me. Bit me, Jeeves. And I think I may have bitten you, too. Is that right, Jeeves?"
"I... I drank...." He shivered once violently. "You said sunlight," he whispered. "It's true, isn't it? Are we...? Jeeves, are we...?"
"Vampires. Yes, we are."
"Oh, God." Bertram pitched forward and rested his head against his knees, his arms wrapping around his chest.
I let him be and continued to wash his body. He let me move his limbs around in order to clean him everywhere, but he never once met my eyes. When he was presentable, I lifted him from the bath and set him on his feet. I rubbed him down with a soft towel, drying his flawless white skin, starting with his shoulders and working my way down. When I knelt before him to tend to his thighs, my gaze was arrested by the beautiful perfection of his cock. It was as white as the rest of him and completely flaccid, but I remembered how it had looked only hours before as I made love to him. The sudden urgent desire to take that organ into my mouth and suck his blood from the tip of it nearly overcame me. I swayed into him, then caught myself. One of Bertram's hands rose to touch my hair. "Will we make love again, Jeeves?" he asked quietly. "Now that we're both... like this. Can we still do that?"
Lust for him raged through me. I wanted to throw him onto his back and ravish him right then. I wanted to shove my cock into him again and tear open his throat with my teeth. "Yes," I said hoarsely. "As often as possible, if I had my way."
I tore my gaze from his soft prick and looked up into his troubled blue eyes. He smiled down at me tentatively. "I suppose it's not all bad, then, what?" He cupped his hand behind my ear and tugged gently. I rose and met his lips when he leaned into me. It was a chaste kiss, not a hint of tongue nor a drop of blood drawn. When it was over, he lowered his forehead to rest on my collarbone. "You won't ever leave me, will you, Jeeves?"
"No. You are mine for eternity," I told him once again.
"And you'll take care of me?"
"That's all I've ever wanted," he said and went limp against me, trusting me to keep my word.
I carried him into my quarters and placed him on the small bed there. Since it was an inside room, there were no windows to let in the light. I quickly shut the door and covered any cracks around it with a spare blanket tacked to the door frame, then I joined Bertram on the bed. We fit together quite easily and as Bertram curled his fingers into my hair, his eyelids drooped. "'M getting rather sleepy, old thing," he slurred.
"That is normal. The sun will rise soon. Go to sleep now, Bertram."
"'M also thirsty, though. Couldn't get a cuppa before nodding off, could I?"
"No. There will be time when you awake for drinking." I did not tell him that he would never again drink tea.
"'N then more lovemaking, Jeeves, m'dear?"
"As you wish," I told him, but he was already unconscious, his body still as death next to me. I felt myself being dragged under, as well, and pulled the bedclothes over our heads. I fell asleep whilst formulating the best way to teach Bertram to kill a man and felt the last bit of my humanity slip away.
